HEALTH & SAFETY POLICY

Policy Statement

The Managing Director is committed to promoting Health & Safety at work and seeks the co-operation of all employees. The Company will provide working conditions that comply with relevant statutory requirements and approved codes of practice.

So far as is reasonably practicable, the Company will ensure that:

  • The working environment is safe and without risk to health.
  • Adequate resources are provided to maintain Health & Safety standards.
  • Risk assessments of equipment, premises, procedures, and processes are carried out and reviewed.
  • Safe systems of work are provided and maintained.
  • Safe handling, storage, and transport of substances is ensured.
  • Employees receive adequate information, instruction, training, and supervision.
  • All plant, machinery, and equipment are safe.
  • Workplaces have safe access and exit routes.
  • Monitoring activities are undertaken to maintain standards.

Management & Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Line management is responsible for implementing and maintaining this policy.
  • Health & Safety considerations are given priority in planning and supervision.

Employee Responsibilities

  • Employees must take reasonable care of their own health and safety and that of others.
  • Employees must cooperate with the Company on Health & Safety matters.
  • No safety equipment must be misused or interfered with.

Communication Between Management and Staff

  • Regular briefings, toolbox talks, and email updates.
  • Encouraging reporting of hazards and near misses.
  • No-blame reporting culture.

Staff Training

  • Induction training for all new employees.
  • Job-specific Health & Safety training.
  • Refresher training when required.

Occupational Health

Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs)

  • Manual handling assessments.
  • Safe lifting training.

Work-Related Stress

  • Monitoring workloads and welfare.
  • Confidential support and adjustments.

Occupational Asthma, Dermatitis & Noise

  • COSHH assessments.
  • PPE provision and training.
  • Monitoring and early reporting.

Accident Reporting

  • All accidents and near misses must be reported immediately.
  • Accidents must be recorded in the accident book.
  • Employees must report hazards or unsafe conditions.

First Aid Provision

  • Qualified first aiders available on site.
  • First aid boxes maintained.

RIDDOR Compliance

The Company complies with the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 2013 (RIDDOR).

Emergency Procedures

Fire Safety

  • Keep fire exits clear.
  • Do not prop fire doors open.
  • Follow fire marshal instructions.

In the Event of Fire

  • Raise the alarm.
  • Evacuate calmly.
  • Go to the assembly point.
  • Do not re-enter until authorised.

Bomb Alerts & Major Incidents

  • Follow emergency service instructions.
  • Personal safety is the priority.

Working Time Regulations

  • Working hours are monitored.
  • Rest breaks are ensured.

Visitors & Contractors

The Company ensures the safety of visitors and contractors under the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974.

Manual Handling

  • Compliance with Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992.
  • Risk assessments undertaken.

Staff Welfare Facilities

  • Toilet and washing facilities.
  • Rest and eating areas.
  • Adequate lighting and temperature control.

Hazardous Substances (COSHH)

  • Hazard assessments conducted.
  • Training provided on chemical safety.

Accident Investigation

All accidents are recorded and investigated to prevent recurrence, in line with RIDDOR requirements.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

  • PPE provided free of charge.
  • Training on correct use and maintenance.

Policy Review

This Health & Safety Policy will be reviewed annually and updated as required.
